Odin, the king of Asgard is about to pass the throne on to his son Thor, but the problem is Thor doesn’t take things to seriously and all he wants to do is fight and kill monsters. He disobeys his father by sneaking himself, a few of his friends and his brother Loki into the Jotunheim planet to destroy the Frost Giants who have been an enemy of the Asgardians for centuries. Odin is disappointed in Thor so he takes away his power and banishes him from Asgard. Thor is sent to Earth where he is found by scientists, Jane Foster and Erik Selvig and their intern Darcy while studying a crater. They believe he is crazy for the way he is acting and Selvig doesn’t feel comfortable around him, but Jane grows an attraction to him. Odin had the hammer known as Mjolnir sent to Earth as well. Locals discover it somewhere outside of town and try to remove it from the ground, but it’s really stuck on there good.
While Thor and friends were battling the Frost Giants, Loki discovered something unusual about himself. Loki questions Odin where he comes from. Odin reveals that during his battle against the Frost Giants back in 965 AD he found an helpless baby abandoned. Odin took him in and called him his son. Loki doesn’t know what to think now he knows his true nature. Odin gets ill and passes out. Loki takes over the throne in the mean time. Meanwhile on Earth, S.H.E.I.L.D. shows up and blocks the hammer from everyone while they study it.
They also take all of Jane’s equipment and research in order to investigate a security threat. Jane is not happy. Jane discovers that Thor was in that crater the night she found him. Word goes around the town about the hammer and Thor demands to be taken to it’s location in order to retrieve it. Jane drives Thor there and he manages to steak in and fight his way through the guards to get to the hammer. Thor tries to lift it, but nothing happens. He then gets arrested and is question of where he learned his fighting skills. Loki shows up, lies to Thor by saying there father is dead and the cause of it was because Thor may have caused a new war and that was too much for Odin. Thor is forbidden to return home and he accepts that realizing what he has done. Jane convinces Erik to bail Thor out. Jane is happy that Thor is alright after he and Erik return. Thor thanks Jane for helping him. He managed to get her research book back from S.H.E.I.L.D. Thor and Jane sit outside and he tells her about the Nine Realms and explains where he comes from.
Loki is planning to start a war against the Frost Giants and Thor’s friends Lady Sif, Volstagg, Hogan and Fandral feel Loki is going too far. They transport to New Mexico and find Thor. They inform Thor that his father is still alive and what Loki is planning. Loki sends the Destroyer to Earth and orders it to destroy everything in it’s path. Loki doesn’t want Thor to return to Asgard. Thor, Jane and the others have everyone evacuate the town while his friends try to take down the Destroyer, but it is too powerful. Thor has them fall back while he tries to reason with Loki through the Destroyer to take his life in order to let everyone else live. Loki calls off the attack, but has the Destroyer struck Thor. Jane rushes over to Thor as he is slowly dying. Thor made a sacrifice with honor and that causes the hammer to return to him and restore his powers. Thor’s friends are filled with joy to see him regain his power. Erik and Jane are shocked to see what is happening in front their eyes. Thor takes down and kills the Destroyer.
Loki made a deal with Laufey, the leader of the Frost Giants to kill Odin while he sleeps. He brings Laufey into Asgard, but kills him as soon as he is ready to put an end to Odin’s life. Loki’s real plan was to use Laufey as an example that the Frost Giants will stop at nothing to defeat the Asgardians and that they must be destroyed. Thor says goodbye to Jane for now, but promises that he will return for her. Thor returns to Asgard to find Loki using the Bifrost Bridge to destroy Jotunheim. Thor fights Loki and manages to hold him down with the hammer. Thor tries to figure out how to stop the Bifrost, but he feels the only way to stop is by destroying it. He uses his hammer to do it. The bridge blows up and causes a abyss. Odin shows up and saves Thor and Loki from falling into it. Loki allows himself to fall when Odin rejects his pleas for approval.
Loki is missed after that by his family. Shortly after that Thor admits To Odin that he is not yet ready to be king and he still has much to learn. Back on Earth, Jane tries to find a way to reunite with Thor by trying to find a portal to Asgard. Meanwhile, Erik Selvig has been taken to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility where he meets Nick Fury. Fury is impressed with Selvig’s work and wants him to study this mysterious cube shaped object that may hold untold power. Loki is revealed to be alive and is controlling Erik Selvig. He tells him to agree to the project.
Blaine: Co-Producer Craig Kyle said that what is interesting about “Thor” is that it’s about a guy who already has his powers, but has them taken away so there’s no need to explain how he became the hero he is. At the beginning of the film Thor doesn’t know the meaning of the word responsibility and all he wants to do is fight instead of doing what his father believes is the right thing and that’s peace and justice. Odin banishes Thor, but I think he’s putting Thor up to a test so that he can realize just what it takes to be worthy of a king.
Kenneth Branagh had signed on to direct “Thor” three years earlier in the Summer of 2008. The actors said that working with director Kenneth Branagh was terrific. Every time they would shoot a scene, Kenneth would want to re-shoot it in a different way and see if it can be better than the last take. He wants the actors to show him everything they've got in their performances. Kenneth’s background is character and Shakespeare and I feel “Thor” goes with him perfectly. He did such a terrific job of directing a film that was visual, fun to watch, really exciting, hilarious and can touch you a lot. Anthony Hopkins is a fan of Kenneth’s work and Kenneth was the main reason he was attracted to the project. It was Ken that gave Anthony his inspiration to be an actor again just when he was thinking about retiring from acting.
Chris Hemsworth was introduced early in the process and he seemed right after a screen test they did of him as Thor. Chris showed that Thor has relish, is fun and has a sense of danger according to Kenneth. I’ve seen Natalie Portman serious and dramatic through her performance in the “Star Wars” prequels, I saw her give a dark side in “Black Swan” and then I saw her in “Thor” and she showed these comedic expressions on her face like after when they hit Thor with the car she shows this shocked look on her face.
Seeing “Thor” for the first time was really cool to watch because it was in IMAX 3D. I loved seeing all those cool effects in 3D including seeing the views of Asgard. The sets are very impressive as well like the palace room for one and how amazingly huge it looks.
Loki is already somewhat of the jealous type for being the number 2# son and living underneath Thor’s shadow even though he doesn’t show it on the outside, but you can tell by his silence. Then Loki finds out that he is really one of the Frost Giants and it messes him up a bit and confuses him because he doesn’t know where he truly belongs. Loki doesn’t want to compare himself to the Frost Giants so he sets up that trap for Laufey to come into Asgard and kill Odin when really he wants to pretend to be the hero and give the Asguardians a reason why the Frost Giants should be destroyed.
Thor’s hammer being stuck to a rock is a lot like the King Arthur story. A sword is stuck to a stone and whoever is worthy enough to remove the sword from it’s place will be king and that man is Arthur. But the thing about the hammer is that you can’t remove it. You have to earn it by fighting for something from the heart.
There was a lot I felt while watching “Thor” for the first time. Excitement, humor, anger, sad, happy and I was also touched a lot of the time.
The thing I felt the most half way through “Thor" was anger. The people of Earth think Thor is crazy, but the audience knows he is telling the truth. I felt anger because the humans didn’t believe him. My thoughts were “What is it going to take to prove that Thor isn’t lying?!” Erik Selvig grew up loving the stories of Asgard and it’s people, but he believes that’s all they are just stories to entertain children. Jane Foster is somewhere in between the line of believing Thor or thinking he’s just living in a fantasy. But I think she wants to believe him. She does realize there is something about Thor that is not ordinary after she sees him defeat the guards in order to get to his hammer. I was also angry at Agent Phil Coulson and S.H.E.L.D. because they were taking Jane’s equipment away and trying to stop Thor from getting to his hammer. When Thor finally got to his hammer after fighting his way through the guards, I thought “This is it! He’s going to show everyone he’s not lying.” But even Thor couldn’t remove the hammer from the stone. I couldn’t understand why at first and I was feeling disappointment because he fought his way through to get to it and nothing happened.
Thor looks at the hammer, a symbol shows on it and then disappears. To me it’s saying “honor and responsibility”. I felt sorry for Thor as he was being handcuffed and taken away by S.H.E.I.L.D. officers. When Loki lies to Thor by telling him that Odin is dead due to his behavior and that he is forbidden to return to Asgard, I could feel the sadness and guilt Thor must have been feeling judging by the sad look in his eyes. He feels terrible for what he has caused and realizes that he has to take responsibility for what he has done. Thor is lost after that not knowing what’s going to happen to him now that he cannot be an Asgardian anymore.
I was happy Thor accepted being mortal and living life on Earth from now on. Thor may be banished from his home forever, but Jane welcomes him to stay with her, Darcy and Erik Selvig.
Erik Selvig believes Thor is someone who is talking nonsense and is crazy. Erik believes Thor read the same books he read as child and got so hooked to them that he became them. After Erik picks up Thor from S.H.E.I.L.D. he tells him to leave town and Thor agrees without arguing, but Thor stays for a little while longer. Thor starts to grow on Erik after he saves his life. There’s a deleted scene for when the Destroyer brings destruction around the small town of New Mexico and a piece of broken glass launches it’s way into Erik’s chest. Thor uses a healing stone to heal the wound and get the glass out of Erik’s chest.
I asked myself if Thor’s friends Lady Sif and the Warriors Three are proof enough that he is telling the truth when they showed up to bring Thor home. It shows Jane and Erik still might not fully believe him, but there getting there. It’s a sad moment when Thor dies just for a few minutes and the music in the background helps make it sad, but somewhere in your chest you feel proud that he gave his life for others. Of course you know he isn’t dead for good because these things always have a happy ending. Honor is what draws the hammer to Thor and gives him back his life.
When Thor got his powers back, there was this intense happy feeling inside me and it was saying "this is the definitely the kind of proof to convince Jane and Selvig that Thor was not only telling the truth the whole time, but they were hanging out with the God of Thunder!” It’s my favorite scene in the movie because it is what I was awaiting for the whole time as soon as Thor first arrived on Earth. I loved hearing those musical horns and violins in the background when it shows Thor as a silhouette rising with power again as the thunder surrounds him. There are a few things I believe Erik Selvig is feeling while seeing Thor gain his powers back. He is seeing something he loved from his childhood and he’s discovering those fantasy stories he grew up on were based on fact. And Jane doesn’t have to ask herself anymore if she has to believe if Thor is telling the truth or not of who he is. And he provides Erik and Jane more proof by dodging the Destroyer’s flames, flying into the sky and creating a twister that is strong enough to pull the Destroyer up. It is a really cool scene to watch!
The hammer is a character too. It feels like it has a mind of it’s own and it’s also Thor’s sidekick. Thor is now a changed man through the rest of the film. He stops acting like a child and acts more like the responsible leader his father wants him to be. “Thor” is a lot of things, a awesome action movie, a movie with heart, a visual movie and it helped two newcomers (Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston) rise to superstardom.
My rating on “Thor” is five out of five stars.

Episode: A History Channel of Thanksgiving
Plot: Stan, Kyle, Eric and Kenny have to do a history report on Thanksgiving. They watch the History channel which is saying nonsense things about aliens visiting the first Thanksgiving. Kyle feels they shouldn’t use any of this bullshit, but he is outvoted. After the boys turn in their history reports, agents of the History Channel demand to know where they got this information and ask for them to reveal everything they know on the History Channel. Kyle says something sarcastically about Pilgrims and Indians both being from outer space. The agents believe Kye’s theory is true, even though he was being sarcastic. They fly to Cape Cod to open a wormhole by drawing a turkey symbol on a stone, but nothing happens. Later that night, a Pilgrim warrior named Standish, falls from the sky and is found by Natalie Portman. He comes from another planet called Plymouth. The indians are attacking Plymouth and taking all the stuffing from the Stuffing Mines and the only one who can lead the Pilgrims to victory is Standish.
There is a shortage of stuffing going on in the United States. Plymouth supplies the stuffing to the humans of Earth and because the Indians have control of the stuffing mines there won’t be any for Thanksgiving. Standish finds his way to Kyle’s house after hearing about his expert knowledge. He feels Kyle can help him get back to Plymouth. Kyle, Stan, Kenny, Standish and Natalie Portman go on a road trip to Cape Cod. Along the way the History Channel finds them and gets them to Cape Cod using quicker transportation. The History Channel have been trying to figure out how to open up the wormhole, but have not succeeded. Standish informs them that it is not complete without the keeper of the portal which is Natalie Portman. Natalie refuses to open up her wormhole. They have Kyle try and convince her to change her mind by taking her out to dinner. After that Natalie agrees to open up her wormhole and Standish returns to Plymouth bringing victory to the Pilgrims and regaining the Stuffing Mine.
