Blaine: It’s hard to understand what anyone is saying in this movie, like they are speaking in words I can hardly understand, but it’s not that hard to understand what’s going on. At the beginning, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have lost their only child and have a funeral. Then Macbeth goes off to the Scottish Civil War. Throughout the film Macbeth is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

I saw something about “Macbeth” in one of my Entertainment Weekly magazines with this line up of female characters they compare to Lady Macbeth and the only one I remember seeing on that page was Sarah Paulson in “12 Years a Slave” and I figured Lady Macbeth had to be somewhat evil inside and uses her words to push Macbeth to do bad things. Michael Fassbender described Lady Macbeth as someone who feels "how can you touch one another again after being away for so long?” after Macbeth returns to her from the battle and they haven’t been intimate for a while. They create a new life for themselves by killing King Duncan and Macbeth taking the throne as king. When Macbeth has Lady Macduff and her children burned at the stake, Lady Macbeth realizes things have gone too far and she feels guilty for what she has made her husband into. I know of Macbeth, but I never knew what the story was before I saw the film.

The reason that I was so interested in “Macbeth" was it’s lead actors, Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, and I love them both after what I’ve seen them do in the past and they are both so talented. And even though you can’t understand what they are saying in the film through Shakespeare’s words, still they show great dramatic performances. And Justin Kurzel’s vision of it is very impressive. The look of it is what I love about “Macbeth”.

My rating on “Macbeth” is four and a half out of five because even though I can’t understand what anyone in the film is saying, I still really like what I see visually.
